Resources for Teachers
A bit about the creator...
My name is Trent McFalls and I teach Spanish and Technology at an elementary school in Denver, Colorado. I was the recipient of an extremely generous scholarship through the Fulbright and Hayes Organization and Metro State University. Our trip gave me a well-rounded experience and an in-depth study of Turkey as a country, people and language. Part of the project proposal to receive the grant was to develop a unit plan to share what we've learned. I also created a blog to write about my experiences while I was there for the month of June 2013. I encourage you to read it as well.

Design of the Unit
This unit is designed for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades to explore not only different aspects of Turkish culture, history, and language but also to develop 21st Century technology skills. This website is a 5 day unit plan in which students will self-guided walk through different modules on different topics of Turkey. They will get to choose 2 modules to begin with and their goal is to complete them by the end of the 5th class period.
I recommend that if you choose to use this website to teach your students technology skills along with Turkish culture, history, and language then please be sure they write any reflections in a box other than the ones I've provided because they will be submitted to me and not to you. :-)
